“Seek first to understand, then to be understood.” –Stephen Covey
1) Reflect upon what you read in Chapter 11 of Thriving in College. What does this quote mean to you or how can you apply it to your life?
~To me this quote means that you can't expect to be able to undestand other people if you don't first understand yourself. Once you are able to fully understand yourself and how you act and who you associate with poeople, you will be able to understand other people. Also other people will then understand you once you know who you are. How is someone supposed to know you if you don't even know yourself. So basically know and understand yourself before trying to understand others.
2) (Refer to page 380 of the text): Are you a “Crisis Tickler,” “Withholder,” “Irritator,” “Blamer,” or “Gunnysacker?” Explain.
~I am a withholder, because when someone makes me mad i withdraw myself from them, by talking to them less or being less nice to them. I do this initally, then i talk to them about it, becuase i hate being in fights with people and its better to confront them and talk about the problem rather that just ignore them and the problem.

I withdraw too but you're right, it's much better to talk it out and communicate than to hold grudges and avoid people. This stuff is tough sometimes though!
